4th-8th grade tutoring is available

Date: Oct 16, 2014 Tags: School NewsThe National Honor Society (NHS) introduces our tutoring services for students grades 4-8th, on Thursdays between 3-4pm. The purpose of the After-School Tutoring Sessions is to allow older students who possess excellent work habits and learning strategies to mentor younger students who are struggling in a particular area. This time can be used to study for tests, complete homework assignments, work on reports – any school related area that the teacher indicates as helpful for your student that can have a measure of success in a one-hour tutoring session.
The After-School Tutoring Session is a “drop-in” program. Other than initially registering your child to participate in the program, you will not have to sign up for a particular week. Either your child’s teacher will contact you or you can request participation. Elementary registration requires you to to submit a PERMISSION FORM and a PROFILE SHEET. Middle school registration only requires the PERMISSION FORM. The permission form will be filed in a Tutoring Folder, which will be “active” for as long as your student participates. If your child does not make use of the Tutoring Sessions for four weeks in a row, the file will become inactive to make room for another student who needs help (NHS can take up to 32 registrations).
We are dedicated to making the After-School Tutoring Sessions run smoothly and efficiently. We hope you will partner with us to make this happen. Please be aware that there are occasional Thursdays when high school students are unavailable to tutor, so please pay special attention to the tutoring dates. The following are the dates up through the second marking period:
- October 9,16, 23, 30
November 13, 20
December 4, 11, 18
January 8, 15
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
